Dividend investing for the long term is one of the best ways to invest your money. It’s the most secure, usually the most profitable, and certainly one of the simplest ways to invest in stocks.
Like all the advice I give — I do this myself. The only stocks I purchase are stocks that have a consistent track record of paying dividends. I don’t like to speculate any more than I have too — I’m a believer in income investing, not growth investing. Dividend stocks are less risky, more profitable, and make more sense.
Here are the reasons everyone should invest in stocks that pay dividends:
- Passive Income. A passive income is an income that pays you automatically forever — whether you work another minute or not. Dividend paying stocks pay passive incomes — something non-dividend stocks can’t do. That means you have an automatic income.
- Investment Security. Because of the passive income, you don’t have to worry about the price of your individual shares to get an income from your stocks.
Remember, for non-dividend paying stocks, the only way to make money is to sell the stocks — if the price dips below what you bought them for, then you’re not making money when you sell them, you’re losing money. With dividend stocks, you don’t have to ever sell or even outright risk losing your investment. It’s more secure.
- Simple Strategy. Dividend investing is just a simple strategy. In a world of exchange-traded funds, futures contacts, options trading, technical analysis… dividend investing is a breath of simple fresh air. And simple is good, especially for someone who isn’t a financial expert.
And there you have it. Dividend stocks pay a passive income. Dividends stocks are a more secure way of investing. Dividend investing is a simple strategy that almost anyone can understand.
